Rabbis in Israel say it is kosher for female spies to have sex with enemy agents
Rabbis in Israel say it is kosher for female spies to have sex with enemy agents in missions against terrorism. In a rabbinical study entitled 'Forbidden Sex for the Sake of National Security', the practice of sleeping with the enemy is given approval.
The study by the Tzomet Institute, a respected institution dedicated to interpreting and decreeing Jewish law in modern life, describes seduction as "an efficient weapon".
It draws on scriptural evidence that the technique can be used in rare circumstances.
It lists previous Jewish seductresses, such as Yael the wife of Hever, who the Bible says lured Sisra, the enemy chief of staff, into her tent.
There she lulled him to sleep before driving a tent peg through his temples.
The study suggests in some circumstances it is even a mitzvah, or good deed, to have sex with a gentile.
More recently, Mossad agent 'Cindy' was dispatched to Britain to seduce the Israeli nuclear whistleblower Mordechai Vanunu.
Cindy, later named as Cheryl Bentov, masqueraded as a tourist and persuaded Mr Vanunu to fly to Rome for a holiday.
There he was drugged, abducted by Mossad agents and smuggled to Israel.
The use of 'honey-trap' Mata Hari agents by western intelligence agencies is well documented.
According to some unconfirmed reports, it was used during the assassination of Hamas commander Mahmoud al Mabhouh in Dubai this year.
The study says priority should be given to choosing an unmarried agent for such a mission.
Should it be necessary to dispatch a married agent on such a mission, it recommends her husband divorcing her first on the understanding he would be entitled to remarry her afterwards. SkyNews
